Project Runway Fashion Show

5th graders will be able to analyze how fashion contributes to the art world by designing their own wearable art to understand their connections to the earth.

Students will partner up with someone in the class and become designers for their own clothing brand. They will get 10 minutes to brainstorm and 10 minutes to execute their idea before it is showt

Lesson Plan

01

Fashion Designers

Class discusses how fashion is art and how it blends within the art world. Students learn about artists: Casey Curran and Yayoi Kusama

What is your connection to the Earth? - Brainstorming

After learning about Yayoi Kusama, students think about how they connect to nature in their own way. Students use the theme of nature to inspire their fashion piece and brainstorm if they want to create a mask / glasses, jewelry, hat / crown, jacket / cape, or. shirt.
