Stained Glass Hearts
Kindergarteners will be able to use unity to make color choices for their tissue paper by identifying someone they love to create a stained glass heart and appreciate the people in their lives.

Students discuss important people in their lives and how we use art to communicate our feelings. This is a two day unit

01
Who do I love?
Love by Stacy McAnulty - Read Aloud

Students turned and talked with the neighbor about who they love and things they do to express their love. They picked who they were going to create their heart for.
02
Tissue Paper Prep
Students picked one main color to represent the person they love and then added other colors that matched it. They glued the tissue paper onto wax paper using brushes and foam brushes.

03
Cutting Heart
Students learned about symmetry and how to cut a heart by only cutting just one half a heart using a folded piece of paper. Students used a template to trace and copied the outline of the heart to create a window into their heart.
04
Final Touches
Students glued their black heart onto the wax paper and filled in any empty areas with more tissue paper.
Students drew the person they loved to gift to them.
