Earth Day

Towson University held an Earth Day event on April 22, 2022 for New Song Academy. Students participated in multiple art activities created by art education students, including myself. It was held in the Glen Arboretum at Towson University where students learned about the different trees species by doing art activities.

01

Objectives

Students will be able to identify tree species based on visuals cues and physical characteristics through the development of a visual field guide that they will use to document their findings to build an awareness and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Earth Day

On Earth Day, Blossom HQ used the guided journal to talk about the trees in Glen Arboretum and do some leaf identification. At tables, the New Song Academy students did some drawings and leaf rubbings and tried to identify which tree the leaf came from. They also explored the arboretum and tried to find the leaves using their journals.
