Substitute
Teaching

From March 2022 - May 2022, I had the opportunity of being a long term substitute in Baltimore City Public Schools. I was given full range as to what I wanted to teach students in the Pre-AP classes. Here is a few of the assignments we did together.

Artist Books : Blackout Poetry

Students were given art history books to create blackout poetry images. Students used these books as a way to better understand how history, although is very important, can be interpreted so that shares the complete truth. Students were able to question some of the information in the textbooks and think about what is missing from it and how are they present within history.

Artists: Kehinde WIley

Austin Kleone

Abstract Gelli Printing

Students experimented with printmaking using gelli plates to learn about the elements of art. They used all sorts of found materials (forks, stencils, yarn, fishnet, bubble wrap, and hot glue) and layered them to create interesting mark making. Students showcased their knowledge on how they can use the elements of arts together to make interesting abstracted compositions.
