Digital Album Cover

High school students will be able to design a personalized album cover using digital art techniques in Adobe Express and consider appropriate use of outsourced images to reflect on significant moments from their lives

Students use art making to communicate aspects of their own identity and self expression.

01

Mind Map and Thumbnail Sketches

Students create a mind map of 4 significant moments in their lives and brainstorm images, colors, and album art they will use as inspiration. Once they have an initial idea, students create 2 different album cover designs so they can think about how their  composition will best express their significant moment.

02

Copyright Free images

Before students learn how use adobe express, they learn about plagiarism and how it applies to art. Students look for imagery to use in their album covers by using free use websites or sourcing images they have taken on their own.

03

Adobe Express

Students explore the Adobe Express software and create their album covers. Album covers are in square size, use copyright free imagery, consider the background and its space, and have a title and their name in an interesting font.

04

Praise Question Polish Reflection

After working on their album covers for a couple of days, students participate in an in progress critique. In their sketchbooks, students divide up their page into four sections. Students pick 3 students to give praise about their album cover, ask a question related to the work, and leave a suggestion to polish and finish up their artwork. Students return to their seat and reflect on the comments and come up with how they can incorporate the new feedback to their artwork.
